Along with the outtakes added before, Self.com also released the behind the scenes footage of Zooey in their July issue:

At our second cover shoot with Zooey Deschanel, it felt like we were catching up with an old friend. The actress and musician also showed off a secret talent on set – she can rock a mean hula hoop!

Deschanel, who arrived in a black eyelet Madras dress and an adorable army jacket with heart-shaped buttons, was thrilled with the clothes we brought to shoot her in – she told our fashion director, Evyan Metzner, that we really got her. She was also totally game to interact with the butterflies we had on set as props, even letting one perch on her nose.

At lunch, she noshed on grilled chicken and salad, confessing that she tried being a vegan like her sister Emily [Deschanel, of Bones], but it didn’t quite work for her. She also told us about the marathon her husband, Death Cab For Cutie’s Ben Gibbard, recently ran, and her back-up plan if “this whole acting thing doesn’t work out” – she’d be a Snow White impersonator! (No doubt she’d excel at the role, with her gorgeous hair and pale skin, but we think she’s got the acting thing in the bag – not only is Our Idiot Brother coming out in August, but she just landed a CBS sitcom called The New Girl.)
